Rector NUST elected To Talloires Network Steering Committee for a term of 3 years starting from January 2015

The beginning of 2015 marked a new era of The Talloires Network (TN) leadership. Six new members including Rector NUST, Engr Muhammad Asghar were elected to the TN Steering Committee for a three year term starting January 1, 2015. It was indeed a moment of great pride not only for National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) but also for the entire Pakistan Chapter of The Talloires Network (PCTN). Rector NUST’s contributions to promotion of community service and civic engagement in Pakistan cannot be overlooked. He has led organization of the PCTN, which was launched at a national conference at NUST in 2013. He chairs the PCTN steering committee. PCTN now boasts a membership of 53 out of the country’s 162 HEC recognized universities.
Rector NUST has actively participated in TN conferences at Madrid 2011 and Cape Town 2014. A renowned leader in higher education, now being part of the TN Steering Committee, Mr. Muhammad Asghar would contribute his vision and experience in the global higher education civic engagement and social responsibility movement to guiding The Talloires Network. Other TN Steering Committee members who also began their 3 year term with him on January 1, 2015 include Ernest Aryeety (Vice Chancellor, University of Ghana), Sara Ladrón de Guevara ( Rector, Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico); Lorraine McIlrath (Founding Director Campus Engage, Project Coordinator Community Knowledge Initiative, National University of Ireland, Galway); Andrew Petter (President and Vice-Chancellor, Simon Fraser University, Canada); and Andrew Vann (Vice-Chancellor, Charles Sturt University, Australia).
